My First Stop

The first stop on my journey is Dublin, Ireland. Dublin is the capital and the largest city in the country. It is on the east coast of Ireland, and it borders the Irish Sea. The absolute location, longitude and latitude, is 53.3428°N, 6.2661°W.Dublin located at the mouth of the Liffey River, and the river separates the city into two equal parts. There is a large port, called The Dublin Port, and it is the largest sea port in Ireland. Dublin has cool summers and mild winters. Dublin is the center of trade and transportation in Ireland. Ireland is unique because it is a country that speaks Gaelic.

This map shows Dublin's location on the east coast of Ireland. Sorry this map doesn't look the the maps on other posts- I couldn't find a good map!

Dublin has a very strong relationship with the arts. Dublin is home to the Abbey Theater. Many famous writers including Oscar Wilde, William Butler Yeats, and James Joyce, all considered Dublin home. The National Museum, Nation Gallery of Art, and Irish Museum of Modern Art are all located there.

I hope to come away from Dublin with a better understanding of the country where my grandparents were raised, because it would be a good experience to learn about my heritage. I would like to see the art museums in Dublin because it will deepen my appreciation of Irish art.
